The annual headline consumer price inflation has decreased to 4% for July, down from 4.5% in June 2019, according to Statistics South Africa.
This is slightly lower than the projections of analysts, and within the target range of between 3% and 6% set by the South African Reserve Bank.
July headline inflation was flat at 0.4% month to month and Core inflation was 4.2% year on year from 4.3% in June.
Stats SA said a drop in fuel prices and increases in municipal tariffs were the key price drivers during the month.
Fuel prices edged lower in July, dragging annual transport inflation down to 3% from 5.5% recorded in June, Stats SA said.
