Big Brother Mzansi 3 winner Mphowabadimo may have won R2-million on the show but she's paying for it with the narrative that she constantly has to fight for Themba, thereby giving her less status than him.
It was how her character Pearl was portrayed on Friday's episode of the Black Door when Themba's character Zola had a lusty storyline with Slay Queen and now she's the side chick on Themba: My Inked World, which starts on Mzansi Magic on Friday 3 February at 20h00.
Before entering the Big Brother house, Themba had lost everything after his tattoo parlour burned down. Now, with a new home partially paid for by his fans, a music EP on streaming services, and in a high-profile relationship with BBMzansi season 3 winner, Mphowabadimo, he's determined to soar to the greatest heights of his life.
But how will he deal with the pressures of life in the spotlight, all while trying to grow his new tattoo business and strike a delicate balance between the love of his life and his ex, who is also the mother of his children?
"As a channel that invests in local content, we are excited that the very successful Big Brother Mzansi season 3 has resulted in a spinoff that will now take viewers closer to the story one of the viewer favourites. It speaks strongly to the connection viewers had with the show," says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.
"A platform like Big Brother is massive, and it's always exciting when we see our talent growing and moving on to the next thing – whether in the entertainment industry or elsewhere – after their time on the show," she concludes.
The 10-episode Themba: My Inked World will show him in his multiple facets: we watch him grow as a father, even though his new life of harder work means he spends less time with the little ones than he would like. Their mother, and his ex Nqobile, is still in love with him: how will that impact on his relationship with Mpho?
Now a recognisable name in the entertainment space, Themba's renewed tattoo business is more high-profile – will his former business partners adapt to now being his employees, since he is the drawcard and feels more confident as a businessman?
Also making an appearance on the show is DJ Tira, Themba's mentor and producer.
How does a laidback soul like Themba Broly navigate life of fame without losing himself? Tune in to Themba: My Inked World to find out. Don't miss its premiere on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) on Friday 3 February at 20h00.
