Mercedes-Benz has launched the new V-Class V300d Special Edition exclusively to the South African market and there will be a limited number of units produced.
This V-Class is considered special as it is only available to South African customers, it features unique exterior and interior features, and there will be limited in supply each priced at R2190 000.
"The V-Class Special Edition epitomises space, comfort, safety, and luxury on the road, with its feel-good ambience, advanced driving technology, and eye-catching finish, "said Marinus Venter, the head of product and marketing at the local arm of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Major additions to the new V300d Special Edition include black exterior finishes, black wheels, and an AMG-branded roof box for additional storage alongside the 542 litres already provided by the cabin.
Moreover, the van is available in three exterior colours only, including a model-exclusive Sodalite Blue Metallic.
Inside, the Mercedes boasts plenty of creature comforts such as automatic doors, six leather-clad seats, ambient lighting, temperature-controlled cupholders, voice control courtesy of the MBUX infotainment system with smartphone mirroring, and a 3.2-litre refrigerated compartment.
The driver can also take a load off on the long road thanks to active cruise control with distance assist, lane-keep assist, blind-spot assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, active brake assist, and the pre-safe package which can detect an imminent collision and prepare the cabin accordingly by, for example, tightening all the seatbelts and closing the windows before impact.
Providing propulsion in the Mercedes is a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel motor connected to a nine-gear automatic shifter, delivering 174kW and 500Nm to the back wheels.
This configuration returns an average fuel usage of 8.0l/100km and assists the sizeable van to get to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds.
A braked towing capacity of 2,000kg is also on the cards for those longer family holidays where a trailer is a must-have.
Each Special Edition is sold with a 7-year/140,000km Premium Drive maintenance plan and they are "now available for purchase in South Africa," said Venter.
