President Cyril Ramaphosa wins court case against the Public Protector and both EFF and the Public Protector ordered to pay costs

The High Court in Pretoria has ruled that President Cyril Ramaphosa has complied with the remedial action of the Public Protector Busisiswe Mkhwebane’s report in the matter of Ivan’s Pillay pension pay out.

Ramaphosa secured an interdict from the court, meaning he does not have to implement disciplinary action against Pravin while Gordhan appeals against a finding by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Judge Letty Molopa-Sethosa said Ramaphosa and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan are correct in saying that there is no consistency in implementing Mkhwebane’s remedial action pending judicial review.

The judge found that the EFF had been unreasonable in asking the court that Ramaphosa immediately implement Mkhwebane’s remedial action.

Mkhwebane and the EFF have been ordered to pay the legal costs for their failed court bid.
