The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact across industries, including non-profit organisations, such as the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).
The government’s ban on public gatherings meant that the SABMR had to cancel all its physical fundraising events up until now.
In an effort to recoup the loss in funding, the SABMR will be hosting a Golf Day on – Thursday, 17 December 2020, at the Westlake Golf Course. All proceeds will go towards its Patient Assistance Programme, which provides financial assistance for patients who cannot afford the cost of finding a suitable donor for their bone marrow transplants.
Spots are limited due to COVID-19 protocols and will commence with a shotgun start at 12 noon. Twenty-five four-balls (two teams of two players competing directly against each other) have been made available at a cost of R3 500 per team, which includes a welcome drink, lunch and watering holes.
A silent auction will also accompany the event. Items including sporting memorabilia, a 5-star getaway, wine experiences and more can be viewed upon registration and golfers can place their bids on desired items throughout the day with the winners being announced after the event.
The SABMR aims to raise R150 000 for the Patient Assistance Programme through the event and subsequent auction. The non-profit organisation relies heavily on donations from the public and corporates to continue the lifesaving work they do.
Corporates and individuals have until 10 December to book their spots. For bookings please contact Lynley Hooper on email: Lynley.hooper@sabmr.co.za or call 021 447 8638.
