The coastal city of Durban will be hosting the final leg of the 2021 SSA Swimming Grand Prix from 28th to 30th May at the Kings Park Aquatics Centre.

The competition also doubles as the last event where SA’s Olympic hopefuls can post Qualification Times, with Tatjana Schoenmaker leading the troop, swimming in a total of four races, the 50, 100 and 200m breaststroke as well as the 200m freestyle.

Erin Gallagher will be looking to secure her place on the team when she takes on the 50 and 100m butterfly and the 50 and 100m freestyle, while Olivia Nel will participate in the 50 and 100m backstroke and the 50m freestyle.

Ethan du Preez, who finished with an Olympic Qualification Time in the 200m butterfly during the SA National Aquatic Championships in April, will be out to improve on that time when he takes to the water in the 50, 100 and 200m butterfly, and the 50, 100 and 800m freestyle.

There will be plenty of action in the 200m individual medley, where Matthew Sates will be striving to better his Olympic Qualification Time from the Stellenbosch Grand Prix, while also taking on the 100 and 200m butterfly, the 50, 100 and 200m freestyle and the 400m individual medley.

The SSA Swimming Grand Prix will begin on Friday, 28th May with the heats starting at 16h00, while the finals will be held on Saturday (29th May) and Sunday (30th May) from 10h00.
