Due to the rapid spread of the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak, Swimming South Africa has made the decision to postpone the upcoming 14th African Swimming Championships.

The event was due to be hosted at Durban’s Kings Park Aquatics Centre from 17th to 22nd April 2020 and will now be postponed until further notice.

“Our main priority as the African Swimming Confederation is the safety of our athletes and with that in mind, the decision was made to postpone the event” said the President of African Swimming, Sam Ramsamy.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who dedicated their time and energy to bring this event to South Africa and we also want to apologies for any inconvenience this announcement might have caused” concluded Ramsamy.

The new dates for the Championships will be announced in due course.
