South African Kevin Anderson, a 2017 US Open men's singles finalist, has withdrawn from the 2019 US Open with a right knee injury.

A Wimbledon finalist in 2018, Anderson previously missed the entire 2019 clay-court season, including the French Open, with a right elbow injury. He returned for the Queens Club and Wimbledon (where he reached the third round), but has been out of competitive action since early July.

He reached the Round of 16 at the 2018 US Open before falling to Dominic Thiem.
