SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic played to a 1-1 draw in their MTN8 first leg semifinal played at Lucas Moripe Stadium this afternoon.

Celtics claimed the lead through Ndumiso Mabena, while United fought back early in the second stanza through Ghampani Lungu to leave the tie poised ahead of next weekend’s rematch.

The quality of play deteriorated as the weather conditions worsened, with the rain getting heavier and the light getting darker steadily throughout.

However, Teboho Mokoena did come close with a superb long-range effort that shaved the woodwork in the 84th minute while Ronald Pfumbidzai skewed the ball inches wide with a hurried snapshot as the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The return leg will be held at Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein next Saturday, November 7. The aggregate winners will face either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs in the final.
