SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns played out a goalless draw in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership match at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The result leaves Sundowns top of the league standings on 25 points, two clear of Matsatsantsa in second spot.
SuperSport suffered a major blow on the half-hour mark as Teboho Mokoena had to be stretchered off the pitch with an injury, resulting in a change of system as Siyabonga Nhlapo came on his place.
Sundowns threatened to create opportunities of their own and finally conjured a chance in the 55th minute, but Themba Zwane failed to hit the target from close range.
Few minutes later, Bradley Grobler came closest to a match winner. Having lost his marker at a corner-kick, the league's leading goalscorer directed a header on goal but Denis Onyango pulled off a superb save to deny the SuperSport forward.
Sundowns introduced Lesedi Kapinga, Aubrey Modiba and Hlompho Kekana in the closing stages in search of what would prove to be a decisive goal in the contest, but neither team would find the back of the net as they settled for a point.
Meanwhile Golden Arrows kept their unbeaten record in the 2020-21 DStv Premiership season intact with a 1-0 win over 10-man Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
Victory moved Abafana Bes’thende up to fourth on the league standings and onto 18 points, seven behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Defeat for TTM extended their winless run to seven matches as they fell down to 13th spot, a mere point above the relegation zone.
Elsewhere Bloemfontein Celtic and Stellenbosch FC played out a 1-1 stalemate in their DStv Premiership clash at the Dr Molemela Stadium and Chippa United claimed their first away win of the 2020-21 DStv Premiership season when they edged TS Galaxy 1-0 at the Mbombela Stadium.
