Black Leopards beat 10-man Golden Arrows 2-1 in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership match at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Ghanaian Mohammed Anas scored both of Leopard's goals, finding the back of the net either side of a Michael Gumede equaliser to move the Limpopo club off bottom spot and three points from safety. Arrows remain fourth on the league standings as a result, eight points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Velemseni Ndwandwe, Zolani Nkombelo and Lungelo Dube came in as Arrows' changes from the win over Stellenbosch FC, while Anas and Lifa Hlongwane were re-called for Leopards.

Arrows were dealt a blow seven minutes in when Nkosinathi Sibisi collided with goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwane and was subsequently stretchered off for Gladwin Shitolo.

It was the Ghanaian who put Lidoda Duvha ahead in the first half as he coolly beat Mlungwane following a thunderous effort from team-mate Hlongwane rebounded of the Arrows post.

After being dominated in the second half, Arrows appeared to come to life in the second 45 minutes and they got their equalizer in the 68th minute as Gumede back-heeled the ball beyond the reach of Leopards keeper King Ndlovu to notch his fourth league goal of the season and Arrows’ equalizer.

Then Arrows were reduced to ten men in the 75th minute when Pule Mmodi was given a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Kenneth Nthatheni.

This inspired Leopards to surge forward rapidly thereafter and bombarded Mlungwane's goal with a near post shot from Tsepo Matsimbi and a close-range header by Tumelo Khutlang.

Leopards seized initiative at the death with a curling strike from Anas to end their five-match losing streak and moved up to 15th spot

The loss was only Mandla Ncikazi's side's second of the season and will be frustrating given that it was against a struggling side.

Meanwhile, the result would have been a major confidence boost to relegation candidates Leopards who ended a run of five consecutive league defeats by claiming the three points.
