England march into the semi-finals of the Rugby World Cup with a 40-16 defeat of Australia. Two Jonny May tries in three first-half minutes opened up a big lead which the Wallabies closed to 17-9 by half-time.
They were back within a point when Koroibete scored three minutes into the second-half but that was as close as the Wallabies would get. An instant reply from Kyle Sinckler and regular contributions from the boot of Owen Farrell - who kicked eight from eight today - extended the lead before Anthony Watson sealed the semi-final spot with an interception try as Australia chased a losing cause.
England took their chances in the first-half and defended stoically as Australia threw everything at them - Samu Kerevi and his young centre partner Jordan Petaia were big threats - before delivering the final blow at the end.
