SuperSport United confirmed the signing of Ethiopian striker, Abubeker Nasir from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal.
“SuperSport United is pleased to confirm the signing of Ethiopian striker, Abubeker Nasir from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal,” SuperSport United said in a short statement.
The Ethiopian secured a lucrative move to the reigning Betway Premiership champions in June 2022 and went on to make just 17 appearances for the Brazilians over a two-year period in an injury-ravaged spell at Chloorkop.
Nasir registered four goals during his time at Sundowns and will now be aiming to resurrect his career at rivals SuperSport United who are seeking to strengthen their attacking department.
The Pretoria club completed the capture of Tashreeq Morris last week as they look to add to their potency in the final third with a long-term injury to the prolific Bradley Grobler.
Matsatsantsa have had a difficult start to the campaign with a tough fixture list that has seen them already play Orlando Pirates twice, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City.
Their only victory in seven games in all competitions came in a 1-0 home success against TS Galaxy. They have scored two goals in those seven fixtures as the loss of Grobler, the club’s all-time leading scorer with 95 goals, is keenly felt.
SuperSport are next in action with a Betway Premiership clash against in-form Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
