MultiChoice drops all eMedia channels & retains eNCA news channel.

MultiChoice and eMedia announced on Wednesday that the companies had renewed their agreement to broadcast eNCA (403) exclusively on DStv and to broadcast the daily Afrikaans News bulletin on kykNet (144).

This new agreement will come into effect from 1 April 2022.

MultiChoice has opted to discontinue eMedia channels eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra and eToonz.

"We constantly review our channel offering on DStv in line with our viewer's needs. Although these four eMedia channels will no longer be available on DStv, customers still have access to a wide range of entertainment which includes 200 channels of movies, dramas, sport, kids, news, reality, and so much more," said Nyiko Shiburi, MultiChoice SA CEO.

All the channels will continue to broadcast and are still available on the Openview platform. Viewers have access to eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra, eToonz, and so much more on the Openview platform by purchasing an Openview decoder for a once-off cost with no monthly fees, to continue uninterrupted viewing., which is licenced under a separate agreement, will continue to air on the DStv platform.
