Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Mongameli Bobani has survived another motion of no confidence against him and remains mayor of the municipality.

Earlier the EFF marched out of council chambers following a dispute with the speaker and the ANC also indicated it was pulling out of the petition calling for Bobani’s removal. This meant that three parties had back-tracked on the petition to remove him - the AIC,ANC and EFF.

Bobani took over from arch-rival Athol Trollip, but since then his political career has been going through a rough patch.

Today's council sitting was dominated by arguments whether the motion against Bobani  should be heard first on the agenda or later on.
