The Democratic Alliance (DA) interim leader John Steenhuisen says celebrating Freedom Day under the pall of the Covid-19 lockdown will give South Africans time to reflect on their hard-won freedom.

In his Freedom Day message, Steenhuisen said the lockdown will give everyone more time to reflect on the importance of freedom.  

As we reflect on the last few weeks and move towards the Smart Lockdown - we are proud of the efforts made by South Africans to curb the spread the Coronavirus and mitigate its devastating effects.

Here is a message from DA Leader, John Steenhuisen.

Thank you to ALL our frontline heroes who have kept our country moving over the last few weeks.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones during this time, we also wish those infected with the virus a speedy recovery.

Let's continue to take all the necessary measures to stay safe, help others where we can and defeat this virus together.
