Eskom suspends load shedding through Easter weekend until Sunday.

Staff Reporter.

The Easter long weekend is going to start on a positive note, as state owned power utility Eskom announced will remain suspended until Sunday at 4pm.

"Due to the sustained available generation capacity and the planned return to service of 2,300MW of generation capacity by Friday, along with the anticipated low demand over the long weekend, load shedding will remain suspended until Sunday at 16:00," Eskom said.

Eskom added that it will provide an update for the week ahead on Sunday afternoon or communicate any significant changes should they occur.

South Africa is heading into a long weekend, where many businesses and industries will shut down, lowering demand.

The evening peak demand for tonight is projected to be 27 465MW.

For access to other load shedding schedules, Eskom has made them available on loadshedding.eskom.co.za.

Smartphone users can also download the app EskomSePush to receive push notifications when load shedding is implemented, as well as the times the area you are in will be off.
