Eskom said it would be implementing stage two load shedding tomorrow from 9am to 11pm.

The power utility has blamed the load shedding on five power-generating units that were not in use due to boiler tube leaks.

Since Saturday, Eskom has been relying on open cycle gas turbines to make up for the electricity shortfall but the diesel stocks that fuel these turbines were running low, which contributed to the load shedding.

In a statement, Eskom said that it would continue to double its efforts to restore a secure energy supply.

The state-owned entity has urged residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly.
