The Motsepe Foundation side Cape Town Spurs have confirmed the transfer of highly-rated defender Rushwin Dortley to Kaizer Chiefs.
“We would like to thank Rushwin and his family for the belief and trust they entrusted in us over the years . With their support and patience , we were able to mould Rushwin into the great player and person that he is,” said Spurs via their Twitter account on Thursday.
“We wish Rushwin many blessings for his future endeavours.”
With over 100 first-team appearances in the top two tiers of South African football, Dortley has established himself as an experienced campaigner despite his young age.
Dortley made 28 appearances for Cape Town Spurs this season, including in their final match of the campaign, a 2-0 win at home to Chiefs that condemned Amakhosi to a tenth place finish in the DStv Premiership.
Chiefs have been camping in Turkiye in preparation for the 2024/25 season where they intend to make amends after nine years without silverware.
The club have now confirmed they will be playing a friendly game this weekend to gauge the players.
“With the team continuing with their pre-season camp and preparations in Turkiye, Amakhosi will play their third practice/friendly match against Qatar’s Al Shahaniya SC in Istanbul on Saturday, 20 July,” the club’s media team confirmed.
“Al Shahaniya gained promotion to the Qatar Stars League (QSL) after they were crowned champions at the end of the previous season.”
Elsewhere Chippa United stated that they had restructured their technical team, with Kwanele Kopo taking over as the club’s sole head coach.
Thabo September, who worked with Kopo as co-coaches last season, will assume the role of the assistant coach.
Under Kopo and September, the Chilli Boys finished in 12th position on the log with 36 points after 30 games.
In alignment with these new objectives, the club has decided to appoint Kwanele Kopo as the head coach for the 2024/25 season. Thabo September will take on the role of assistant coach, club statement read.
