Young Africans SC handed Nasreddine Nabi his first loss as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs beating them 4-0 in the Toyota Cup in Mangaung on Sunday.
Chiefs had a successful preseason tour in Turkey, where they beat Al Shahaniya 5-2 before drawing 0-0 with Dibba Al-Hisn.
Young Africans broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when Prince Dube capitalized on some slack defending to calmly slot the ball past goalkeeper Brandon Petersen.
After taking the lead, Yanga remained the more dangerous side. Just before halftime, young Nkosana Mbuthu’s mistake in the box allowed Stephane Aziz Ki to double their lead.
In the second half, Chiefs dominated possession, but Yanga proved more clinical in front of goal. Clement Mzize added a third, sneaking the ball into the net. Aziz Ki then outmaneuvered Chiefs’ defence to secure his brace and Yanga’s fourth goal of the day.
This wasn’t a desirable result for Nabi, as Yanga held on to a commanding 4-0 victory, walking away with the inaugural Toyota Cup title.
