Ukhozi FM radio presenter and Crown Gospel Music Awards founder, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule has died, her family confirmed in a statement.
Fullview learnt that TV and radio presenter passed away in hospital in the early hours of Monday morning.
Zanele, 52, who hosted a Sunday show, Eshilo, on Ukhozi FM, was diagnosed with lung cancer in May. She first failed to present her show in April, struggled to finish it, and was rushed to the hospital at the end of April.
Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, confirmed Zanele’s death and said the family’s grateful for the prayers and support they received during her illness.
“This is sad news; she is resting now, and I thank all congregants and listeners for their prayers and support. As a family, we are hurt, and we know that listeners and the Ukhozi FM family are also hurt. We are praying to God to comfort us. We will communicate the funeral arrangements,” he said.
Ukhozi FM boss Sbongi Ngcobo conveyed condolences to Zanele’s family, Ukhozi FM presenters, and listeners.
“I would like to thank Ukhozi FM listeners; they were with us on this journey, and she was in their prayers. I ask people to give the family space and be responsible on social media about what they write regarding Zanele’s death,” she said.
Zanele, who was also the founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, had many people, including pastors and musicians, praying for her after she was diagnosed with lung cancer.
She was a seasoned communications, marketing and events specialist. She had an Honours Degree in Media and Communications from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
