The United Democratic Movemen (UDM) leader General Bantu Holomisa has accused the ruling African National Congress (ANC) not doing enough to fight corruption.
Holomisa delivered the party’s election manifesto at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Saturday.
He said while corruption continues to destroy the freedom and gains of democracy, the ANC has done nothing to stop the scourge.
Holomisa encouraged UDM members and South Africans to make their voices heard at the polls and vote to rid the country of an ANC majority.
“There is no political will to take the guilty to a court of law”.
“It is for this reason that the State Capture commission report is gathering dust in Parliament” he said.
South African head to the polls on the 29th of May.
The Commission is a judicial commission of inquiry instituted by then President Jacob Zuma to investigate allegations of state capture. It was led by deputy chief justice Raymond Zondo.
Holomisa has also slammed President Cyril Ramaphosa, criticising him for refusing to publicise the performance report of his ministers.
Last year, the Presidency announced that the performance assessments report of ministers will not be disclosed to the public to avoid the information being used against Ramaphosa’s Cabinet members.
Holomisa reminded his supporters about this urging them not to put their trust on Ramaphosa in the upcoming elections.
“If Ramaphosa declined to release the performance report of his cabinet citing that he is scared his report will embarrass his Cabinet and party, yes they will and if you had no other reason to refuse to vote for the ANC again, this will convince you,” the UDM leader said.
Holomisa added: “The president even stated that he was willing to fall on his sword rather than to reveal the names of those who abuse public funds. Does that make him a hero or just another sleazy enabler of all the thieves in his party?”
He continued to say that culprits who have looted state resources hide behind struggle credentials and were rewarded by the ANC with protection against investigations.
