The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial faced another delay on Thursday, when Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu fell ill, forcing an early adjournment.
Mngomezulu is representing two of the five men accused of killing former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Meyiwa.
The state called the expert as a new witness to verify Longwe Twala’s movements on the night of the murder.
In August, Mngomezulu alleged Twala shot Meyiwa and injured himself in the foot during a scuffle at the Khumalo home, later seeking medical attention.
The state maintains Meyiwa was killed by the five suspects on trial and the tracking data is crucial to disprove the defence team’s claim.
Elizabeth Pretorius started her testimony by describing Twala’s movements when arriving in Vosloorus.
Meyiwa was killed while visiting his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, at her mother’s house in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni on 26 October 2014.
Mthobisi Mncube, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder.
They face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicenced firearm, and possession of ammunition.
