SA Police Services in Gauteng arrested more than 40 suspected illegal immigrants at a house in Sandton, where counterfeit SIM cards were being manufactured.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says police pounced on the house on Friday, where they found all the suspects aged between 17 and 36 years.
He says their investigation led them to a garage and backroom where thousands of SIM cards from all South African mobile networks and a substantial number of computers were found.

Masondo says cellphone technicians were called to the scene to confirm that the cards were imitations.
Two suspects are South Africans.
They are all expected to appear in court soon to face charges including the Contravention of Cyber Crime Act, fraud and being in the country illegally.
