Cape Town City Football Club has confirmed the exit of Colombian forward Juan Camilo Zapata after one year with the club.
Zapata joined City in December 2022 on a four-year contract after he had a successful season with CD Hermanos Colmenarez in Venezuela, netting 19 goals in 35 appearances.
The Cape Town-based side have now released Zapata to open up a foreign spot for DR Congo international Nathan Fasika Idumba when the season resumes in February.
Fasika returns after one year out recovering from a serious knee injury.
City released him from his contract but kept him on their books while he recovered in order to re-sign him and register him for the second half of the season.
Fasika will come in handy in central defence after the departure of Taariq Fielies earlier this season to AmaZulu.
City are in second place in the DStv Premiership standings after they won the last game of 2023 by beating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 in their derby clash.
