Mihlali Mayambela has been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad after he picked up an injury while playing for his Cypriot club Aris Limassol at the weekend.
He was substituted at half time in Aris Limassol’s 3-0 home win over Anorthosis on Saturday.
Mayambela was part of the bronze-medal winning Bafana squad at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals earlier this year.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos said, “Sadly Mayambela, who had returned to the squad after impressing the Belgian tactician, had to be withdrawn after picking up an injury over the weekend, and he has been replaced by Stellenbosch FC winger Devin Titus.”
“An SOS has been sent to Titus’ club and he is already on the way to Johannesburg to join the team in camp.
“The team assembles in Johannesburg on Monday, 11 November 2024 and will begin training on the same day ahead of the away qualifier against Uganda on Friday. They will travel by charter on Thursday morning and return to South Africa on Saturday, 16 November.”
Themba Zwane and Lyle Foster are already both out of this month’s Bafana Bafana squad through injury.
Bafana Bafana are in second place in Group K with eight points, just two behind group leaders Uganda (10 points).
