Pitso Mosimane has landed a new job after signing with Saudi Arabia Pro League side Abha Football Club on a short-term four-month contract.
“I can confirm to you that coach Pitso has officially signed with Saudi Arabia club Abha FC on Thursday,”MT Sports MD Moira Tlhagale told the Sunday World.
“Coach Pitso will be returning to the gulf and has signed a four-month contract with the team until the end of the season.
“His mandate is clear and that is to ensure that Abha survives relegation and plays in the Pro League again next season.”
Abha currently sit 17th in the Saudi Pro League, five points away from safety, and has also already been knocked out of the King’s Cup after losing to Al-Khaleej in the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, Mosimane has been without a club since he departed from Emirati giants Al-Wahda last November after just 10 games in charge.
This will mark Mosimane’s second stint in Saudi Arabia following a stint with Al Ahli Jeddah for the 2022/23 season when he led the club to the promotion and the Saudi First Division League title.
Despite his success, Al Ahli decided to terminate the contract of the South African coach to hire Matthias Jaissle, whom the team has been excelling under.
Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has denied reports that the club held talks with Mosimane.
Motaung said they have not spoken to Mosimane or any other coach about the job.
Chiefs management have put their trust in the interim coach Cavin Johnson to finish the rest of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
