South Africa’s striker Percy Tau has penned a heartfelt farewell message to his former side Al Ahly as he sets his sight on a new journey in Saudi Arabia.
In a letter published on his X page, Tau shared his gratitude with those that have walked the journey with him in Egypt, from club management, coaches, teammates and fans.
The 30-year-old also highlighted in the letter the triumphs he enjoyed at the club of the century as some of the greatest memories created.
Tau was initially set to sign a three-year contract extension with Al Ahly, which would have made him the highest-paid player on the African continent. However, Al Ahly later reconsidered their offer, opting instead to sell the player.
Fullview learnt when efforts to negotiate revised contract terms fell through, the club decided to terminate Tau’s contract.
Tau has spent four years with the Red Devils, winning 12 trophies in the process.
Kaizer Chiefs made contact but Tau was not keen on making the Naturena move.
On Monday night, relegation-threatened Qatar SC confirmed the signing of Tau.
Fullview understands the Mpumalanga-born left-footed star’s new contract with Qatar SC will see him earn a monthly salary of R16.8 million a month.
