Dstv Premiership club Chippa United announced on Thursday that the have parted ways with 16 players ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The club is looking to improve on their inconsistent performances last season after finishing 12th on the league table.
Chippa United won only eight league matches, drew 10, and lost 12. They collected 34 points in 30 matches.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the above players for their dedication and contributions to the club,” stated chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi.
“You have all brought pride to the Eastern Cape, and we wish you the very best in your future endeavours. This announcement comes with the promise of exciting new signings that will be unveiled in due course.
“Fans can also look forward to seeing new faces from the Eastern Cape as we continue to build a strong and competitive team for the coming season,” he concluded.
Players released: Luvuyo Memela, Roscoe Pietersen, Lloydt Kazapua, Azola Ntsabo, Siyabonga Nhlapo, Senzo Nkwanyana, Siphelele Luthuli, Darren Johnson, Menzi Ndwandwe, Andile Fakude, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Diego Appolis, Khanyisile Mayo, Siseko Manona, Yuriq Conwood and Andile Mbenyane.
Players returning to their parent clubs: Goodman Mosele (Orlando Pirates) and Malebogo Modise (Mamelodi Sundowns).
