The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed that the family of the former fiance of the late rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, Anele Tembe, has sent a letter claiming that he was responsible for her death.
However, the NPA has declined to give further details, saying it was not at liberty to share any more details about the investigation into Tembe’s death with the media.
Tembe, 22, fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Loop Street, Cape Town, during the early hours of 11 April last year.
According to the letter, the family claimed that AKA – had cleaned blood stains inside their room after she plunged to her death.
The family also claimed that Forbes failed to go downstairs, despite Tembe being alive for about 20 minutes after her fall.
AKA was gunned down outside a popular restaurant in Durban on Friday evening, a fatal shooting that also resulted in the death of his lifelong friend Tebello Motsoane.
Meanwhile the metro police in Johannesburg has warned motorists to expect heavy traffic in the Sandton area due to the memorial service of late rapper.
The service is set to be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday afternoon.
“Motorists are further advised to acquaint themselves with traffic management for the day and to please be patient during the duration of the memorial service,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
“The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department officers will be deployed to control and implement partial road closures around the centre.”
Affected roads include Maude and Fifth Streets, Maude and West Streets, Alice and Fifth Streets, West and Katherine Streets, West and Rivonia Road, West and Duodar Streets.
The memorial service will start at 15:00, and is expected to end at about 18:00.
