The case against three G4S employees linked to the Thabo Bester matter has been postponed to next week in the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court.

Thabang Matthews Mier, Joel Lekhari Makhetha and Moeketsi April Ramolula made a brief appearance on Wednesday morning, where it was confirmed that they had legal representatives and no previous convictions.

The men are all G4S employees.

Accused number 10, Thabang Mier is charged with aiding Bester during his escape from Mangaung Correctional Centre in May last year.

Accused number 11, Joel Makhetha and accused number 12 , Moeketsi Ramolula, are facing charges of violation of a body, aiding an inmate to escape and corruption.

Bester escaped the maximum-security prison in May last year by faking his death.

In April, he was re-arrested in Tanzania alongside his alleged accomplice Dr Nandipha Magudumana.

Magistrate Moholo Khabisi granted the state prosecutor’s request to postpone the matter for bail application.

The three are set to return to court on 3 July.
