Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) hits back at ANC provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo calling his open letter a tirade that had all the makings of the drunken writings of a mad man wielding an axe, baiting violence in a sorry, pathetic, cheap, and desperate act to deflect focus on his failings as provincial Secretary.
Mtolo said IFP founder Mangosuthu Buthelezi is a leader who speaks with forked tongues and he has grown to believe that he is Alpha and Omega in society.
Furthermore, he accused Buthelezi of dividing the Zulu royal house since the passing of King Goodwill Zwelithini in March 2021.
“Unsuspecting members of the public are left with an impression of a leader who is a nation builder with the interest of the Zulu royal family in his heart. In reality, this leader has divided the Zulu royal family,” Mtolo said.
Moreover, he claimed Buthelezi had divided the province and washed the dirty linen of the Zulu royal family in public.
“He has also divided the institutions of leadership in this province by planting the seeds of mistrust. He has literally washed the Zulu royal family linen in public,” Mtolo wrote in the open letter that drew the ire of the IFP.
The IFP fired back at Mtolo in a statement, calling him a “lunatic” who is trying so hard to be relevant.
“Mtolo is a danger to democracy. He is a war-mongering lunatic, facing the inevitable implosion of the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal, as the prospects of losing power come to the fore ahead of the 2024 elections,” the party said.
It added that it would not be distracted by the tirade, as it is more focused on reclaiming the province of KwaZulu-Natal from the ANC.
Meanwhile the Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal calls on the ANC to rein in their destructive and damaging Mtolo after continued allegations against him for trying to secure a payment for a business forum.
In a statement DA said, “It has now come to light and confirmed in a recent television interview that Mtolo has admitted to trying to facilitate a R5 million payment between the eThekwini Municipality and the Amadelangokubona Business Forum.
The money is allegedly ‘owed’ to the forum because they ‘foiled’ an elaborate plot to bomb Durban City Hall, reservoirs and transport infrastructure.”
“It is now confirmed that the ANC Provincial Secretary facilitated a meeting between the forum and municipality to resolve this so-called payment owed to the them. This is irregular and illegal and must be condemned.”
