SA Police Service in KwaZulu-Natal says they’re making progress in investigating the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
They’ve confirmed that the murder weapon, getaway car and possible “spotters” had been identified.
Provincial police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi told the media during the inter-ministerial committee briefing on Wednesday.
Forbes was killed together with Motsoane on Durban’s Florida Road in February.
Mkhwanazi said police have also identified possible suspects and waiting for a green light from the NPA before making any arrests.
“We’ve identified at least one firearm that has been used and positively identified to have shot and killed Forbes on that evening, and with such they are in our possession as well.
“We have identified few individuals that we are going to maybe after discussing with the NPA maybe we might then start bringing them in.”
“We’ve identified a couple of vehicles used, some of the vehicles were used as getaway, some were as spotters and some of the vehicles used by people after the fact that we suspect that they are suspects in this.”
Mkhwanazi said SAPS also have also managed to get its hands on a massive amount of data, and detectives have started analysing the data.
“We’ve downloaded more than 25 cell phones already as we speak, and the team is analysing every communication on those cellphones. Those are cell phones of people of interest, a number of people have been interviewed.”
