A fire broke out at the popular Summit restaurant in Menlyn, Pretoria east, and destroyed parts of the upmarket rendezvous.
Emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said the fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The restaurant is located near the Garsfontein offramp to the N1 highway.
“The fire was reported at Summit restaurant in Garsfontein in the early hours of this morning. Emergency services are still on the scene finalising the putting out of hot spots.
“Only the second floor, where the sound is being played caught fire and sustained damages, the part of the restaurant on the ground floor, and the kitchen as well as the rooftop did not suffer any damage.
“The cause of the fire is unknown at the moment, fire safety has been activated to conduct fire cause determination,” said Mabaso.

Earlier heavy wind storms were experienced in parts of Gauteng on Tuesday night, with reports of destroyed houses and vehicles in some parts, while plunging residents into darkness.
Mabaso said the emergency services had their hands full on Tuesday night, but no fatalities have been recorded.
“Last night, at around 10pm various parts of Tshwane experienced heavy wind storms which uprooted a number of trees in areas like Valhalla, and multiple power outages that were also followed by a number of fire incidents reported in various parts of the city,” he said.
