Cape Town Spurs has filed an urgent court papers seeking to review and set aside the arbitrator’s Hilton Epstein ruling dismissing their case against MFC champions Durban City.
Spurs lodged a complaint over the eligibility of Saziso Magawana, who signed for City from Marumo Gallants.
The final verdict was delivered on Monday, 2nd of June 2025, with arbitrator Epstein dismissing the case with the costs being awarded against the appellants.
The ruling paves way for Durban City to start preparing for life in top-flight football next season.
In its court papers, Spurs cited Pretoria Callies, University of Pretoria and Uppington FC as the respondents.
The Urban Warrior, who have suffered relegation to the amateur ranks, are hoping the court – overturns the arbitrator verdict so they can stay in the professional ranks.
Meanwhile Cape Town City’s case against SuperSport United was dismissed by Safa arbitration. The dispute was about an abandoned match due to a power outage, paving way for the promotion/relegation playoffs to take place next week.
