‘I’m not a tribalistic person’: Ngizwe Mchunu apologises for his ‘tribalist’ comments.

Controversial former Ukhozi FM radio presenter Ngizwe Mchunu has issued a formal apology for the remarks he made towards Economic Freedom Fighter leader Julius Malema on Saturday.

Over the weekend a video circulated on social media, in it Mchunu brazenly swore at Malema’s remarks about the Springboks, in which he claimed they symbolise white supremacy.

“Why are we being forced to salute the emblem that was saluted by murderous people, wearing the same jersey in celebration of the butchering of black people. That emblem and that jersey represents white supremacy and that we don’t support.”

But a rambunctious Mchunu slammed Malema for criticising the Boks in English, “the language of apartheid”.

Mchunu rebuked Malema for his criticism of the Springboks in English, labelling it “the language of apartheid.”

He went on to say Malema should launch his party manifesto in Limpopo where his ancestors would hear him clearly. ” Go to Seshego, not here. The people from here hear from us and you’ll find them from us. If you want them you must explain to us why you need them first, speak isiZulu,’ he said. He added: “You can only load Shangane people and bring them here, no Zulu person will attend his event at Moses Mabhida stadium,”

Mchunu has since apologised for his utterances in a formal letter written in Zulu. “As the president of the Bhinca nation, I hereby apologise for making such comments. I am aware that my comments have received a lot of criticism from all corners of the country.

“I apologise for making such. I’m not a tribalistic person and I respect all the tribes in South Africa.

“I wish you the best holidays as we are looking forward to 2024 as we will have our elections next year,” the letter reads.

Mchunu and Tira have also made peace after they both insulted each other publicly.

This happened at a house-warming party of Mcabangelwa Cele in Shelly Beach, Port Shepstone, recently. At the party, Ngizwe and DJ Tira are seen shaking hands and smiling at one another.

Earlier this year, Mchunu posted a video of himself on social media and said: “DJ Tira, I am highly disappointed in you. You make us drink urine, and you call it a cider. Makoya Bearings, let me tell you this, not everything is about you, and not everything revolves around you.”

Moreover, at that time Tira wrote on his Facebook page that he was thinking of responding to Mchunu but would not waste his time on him. However, when he saw him at a tournament in Shobeni he could not contain himself and called him out. Tira launched his cider, Makoya Bearings, in December 2022 and he expressed how hurt he was by Mchunu’s comments.

Furthermore, in the video Mchunu is seen shaking hands with Tira before he goes on to the stage to perform. While Tira performs, Mchunu is seen dancing to his music. Cele said he invited them both to his house-warming in the belief that they would forgive each other.

Meanwhile JAC Motors SA distanced themselves from the comments made by its ambassador Mchunu.

Mchunu has been told to return the car JAC Motors dealership in Port Shepstone after EFF met with JAC management to withdraw its sponsorship with him.

JAC Motors South Africa started in 2017 after long-term negotiations and relations. JAC Motors is a multiple award winning company and is state-owned.
