Mamelodi Sundowns have announced that Lebohang Maboe and Rivaldo Coetzee will leave the club after their contracts were not renewed.
Sundowns thanked the duo for their achievements with the club over several seasons.
“After 7 memorable years, 12 trophies, 183 appearances, and that unforgettable league hat-trick, the Yellow Nation bids farewell to Lebohang Maboe. Masandawana wishes you nothing but success as you enter your next chapter,” Sundowns said on social media.
The club also bid farewell to utility player Coetzee, who spent eight years with the club. The Kakamas-born defender-cum-midfielder made over 130 appearances during his time at Sundowns and won 14 trophies.
“The Yellow Nation thanks Rivaldo Coetzee for eight years as Sandawana. After winning 14 trophies with the club and making over 130 appearances, the Sundowns family wishes you all the best in your next chapter,” Sundowns added.
After concluding their duties at the FIFA Club World Cup, the focus now is on the restructuring of the playing unit.
As was the case in the previous transfer windows, Sundowns are expected to be active as they hope to get players who can help them achieve their season targets.
Last season, they only managed to defend the PSL but fell short in the Nedbank Cup – they were eliminated in the semi-final by the eventual champions, Kaizer Chiefs, and in the CAF Champions League.
