Siwelele FC got back to winning ways in the Betway Premiership after defeating Marumo Gallants FC 1-0 in the Bloemfontein derby on Sunday afternoon.
The result handed Lehlohonolo Seema’s men their second victory of the Betway Premiership season, ending a frustrating seven-match winless streak.
Man of the Match Tebogo Potsane, broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, scoring the decisive goal that separated the two sides.
A well-balanced second half followed as both teams created chances and Chibuike Ohizu was sent through on goal in the 70th minute, but Washington Arubi came off his line to pull off a good save to deny the Siwelele striker, who had only the keeper to beat.
The last real chance of the match fell for Daniel Msendami with seven minutes left on the clock. The Zimbabwe international was able to beat on-rushing Ricardo Goss, but the ball went out for a goal-kick and Siwelele held on to secure a hard-fought victory.
