Nottingham Forest head coach Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties after just eight matches in charge, the club confirmed.
Postecoglou’s exit makes his reign the second shortest in Premier League history.
Forest lost 3-0 to Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime, their sixth defeat in his short reign which left them 17th in the Premier League table.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the Premier League club said in a statement on Saturday.
“The club will make no further comment at this time.”
The Australian succeeded Nuno Espírito Santo after the Portuguese coach was sacked by owner Evangelos Marinakis after falling out with Edu, Forest’s head of global football.
Fulham manager Marco Silva is understood to be high on their list of potential replacements, while former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche is another candidate.
