SA Police Services (SAPS) arrested a 23 year-old suspect implicated in the Reiger Park drive-by shooting that left six people dead and three injured on Saturday night.
According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred on Williams Road, in the evening, when two vehicles, a silver polo and a black polo came to the area and started shooting randomly.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said, the suspect was arrested on Monday evening following investigations conducted by Anti-Gang unit.
He is expected to appear before Boksburg court on 05 November 2025.
Acting Gauteng Police Commissioner Major General Kekana has applauded the team for their relentless efforts and further thanked the community for their cooperation.
“The arrest will not have been this quick without your assistance, thank you. From the engagements that we have had with you, you heard our plea to cooperate and work together with the police to rid our communities of these criminal elements”, said Kekana.
On a separate incident, another AGU team arrested a 62-year-old man for possession of drugs while they were patrolling in Reiger Park area. The suspect was stopped and searched when found in possession of 14 ziplock bags containing methcathinone (Cat), 43 tablets of mandrax and 105 halves of mandrax tablets.
Kekana has applauded the team for their relentless efforts and further thanked the community for their cooperation. “The arrest will not have been this quick without your assistance, thank you. Meanwhile Anti-Gang Unit in Gauteng has arrested the remaining three suspects in connection with the Westbury double murder and five counts of attempted murder.
The trio, aged between 17 and 20 years old, were arrested on 04 November 2025, after they were brought to the police by their parents and lawyers.
The 17-year-old has been taken to a place safety as per the Child Justice Act while the 19- and 20-year-olds have been detained. They are facing two counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder.
The three will be joining the first two accused on Thursday, the 6th of November 2025 when they appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
