The Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly-known as Shebeshxt, has been remanded in custody after his case has been postponed.
Chauke appeared briefly in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He is facing three charges – attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and malicious damage to property.
Chauke was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation in the upmarket suburb of Bendor, outside Polokwane.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, “It is alleged that the suspect had a confrontation with another motorist, during which he fired several shots at another vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old male occupant, who was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.”
The case was initially opened at Westernburg SAPS and later transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit for further investigation.
“Detectives successfully obtained a warrant of arrest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, leading to the suspect’s apprehension,” he said.
During the court proceedings, State requested more time to align this matter with other cases against Chauke, a move that would see the cases upgraded from schedule 5 to schedule 6, making it difficult for him to obtain bail.
Judge Godfrey Netshiozwi said, “This matter has to be postponed to a further date to finalise the profiling of yourself, further investigations, and, if possible, a possible bail application.”
The matter will return next Friday, 21 November 2026 and he will remaining behind bars.
The Regional Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Mashudu Malabi- Dzhangi said the musician is facing other charges in a pending case including two counts of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and malicious injury to property.
