Maritzburg United have officially announced the signing of former Orlando Pirates defender Wayde Jooste on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old had joined Pirates from Highlands Park in October 2020 but was released ahead of the current season.
Jooste had unsuccessful trials at SuperSport United before joining Team of Choice.
He now gets to reunite with former coach at Pirates Fadlu Davids and former teammate Wayne Sandilands who is now the goalkeeper coach at United.
Meanwhile Sekhukhune United snapped up Given Mashikinya after he was released by Maritzburg United last month.
The left-footed midfielder had only joined United from Royal AM in July this year and he has since found a new home at Sekhukhune.
Maritzburg, as well as Sekhukhune, sit on just 11 points at the base of the 16-team standings, but the four clubs above them are only two points adrift.
Elsewhere Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo signed for Abafana Bes’thende two months ago shortly after his contract with Marumo Gallants was terminated by mutual consent.
The defender spent one-and-a-half-seasons with Gallants before leaving the Limpopo side following coach Dan Malesela’s return to the club.
