Congolese club AS Otoho d’Oyo recorded a convincing 4-1 victory over CR Belouizdad at home while Kaizer Chiefs snatched a dramatic point against Zamalek in their CAF Confederation Cup matches on Saturday.
A first-half blitz from Jacques Bowamba, Bandiougou Diallo and Gosim Duvan (29’) set the home side on their before Dion Ravelli added a fourth on 65 minutes of the game.
Abderrahmane Meziane netted an 81st-minute penalty for Belouizdad ahead of Group C’s other game which will be played on Sunday between Stellenbosch and Singida Black Stars.
The result puts Otoho top of Group C on goal difference and leaves Belouizdad facing immediate pressure before their next outing away from home.
Meanwhile in Johannesburg, substitute Flavio Silva levelled at 90+6 minutes, denying Zamalek victory in a tight CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash in on Saturday.
Zamalek had led from the third minute, Seifeddine Jaziri finishing an early move to put the 2023/24 winners in front.
The visitors then relied on their organisation and big-game nous, repeatedly slowing Chiefs’ momentum and managing key moments with a string of late substitutions and cautions as the clock ran down.
Zamalek still threatened on transition and picked up bookings as they tried to see out the win.
But Chiefs’ persistence finally told deep into stoppage time when Silva reacted quickest in a crowded box to sweep home the equaliser and spark relief around FNB Stadium.
The draw keeps Group D finely poised behind early leaders Al Masry, who won 3–2 away to ZESCO United on Friday to move to six points from two matches. Zamalek are second on four points (W1 D1), Chiefs third on one, with ZESCO bottom on zero.
Elsewhere Orlando Pirates went three points clear at the top of the Betway Premiership table after claiming a 2-0 win over Durban City in the first meeting between the two sides at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
