Gauteng Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure Department has launched a new app to help fix potholes in the province.
The App will allow road users to report poor road conditions and other road maintenance issues that require attention.
It can be downloaded on a smartphone then when a user sees a pothole they are able to report It.
An App called Potholefix GP has been launched by the Transport and Roads Department together with the working with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.
It’s expected to update user after the report, the assigning process until the jobs is done and the pothole is fixed.
The weekend campaign involved, amongst others, grass cutting, vegetation control, fixing of road signage and pothole patching, enabling overall maintenance of the provincial road network to acceptable standards.

Gauteng Transport and Roads MEC Jacob Mamabolo says this is a step into the digital era.
He said, “we’ve increased and improved our capacity to maintain and improve the ability to improve our road network. We have a state of the art digital platform interfacing with communities and the people “
Mamabolo said although the app is dedicated to provincial roads if national roads are affected they will escalate the report.
The app has a capability allowing it to check and verify whether a reported pothole is on a municipal, provincial or a national (SANRAL) road across Gauteng.
Potholes reported are then referred to responsible road agencies or municipalites for their attention.
The reported issues belonging to the province will be dealt with by the departmental road maintenance teams.
