The murder trial of Nateniël Julies is expected to start afresh in the Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Monday, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said.
The matter was halted earlier this year following the death of Judge Ramarumo Monama, who had been the presiding officer since the trial started.
Constables Caylene Whiteboy and Voster Netshiongolo, as well as Sergeant Simon Scorpion Ndyalvane, were expected to again be in the dock for allegedly killing Julies. The police officers earlier pleaded not guilty to killing Julies.
Julies was killed on 26 August outside his Eldorado Park home.
He sustained a bullet wound fired from a shotgun belonging to the Eldorado Park police station where the trio were stationed.
The death of Julies was met with outrage by the community of Eldorado Park, who went on a rampage and clashed with the police. Several people were injured and houses were damaged when community members threw rocks and the police fired rubber bullets.
