LIV Golf has confirmed that Mexican star Abraham Ancer will join Torque GC ahead of the 2026 season, bringing an end to his four year tenure with Fireballs GC as the league’s 13 teams continue to finalise their rosters during the free agency and transfer window.

A two time Olympian and one of LIV Golf’s most consistent performers, Ancer finished inside the top 12 of the individual standings in both 2024 and 2025. He departs Fireballs GC following a successful spell highlighted by his maiden LIV Golf individual victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong in 2024, where he triumphed in a three man playoff against Cameron Smith and Paul Casey.

“I would like to thank the Fireballs GC players, caddies and staff for the last four years and for helping me grow as a person and a player, “Ancer said. “I will always be grateful for that chapter of my career and wish them nothing but success going forward. Joining Torque GC is an exciting next step, both personally and professionally. Competing as part of an all Latin American team alongside close friends adds a level of connection and purpose that I am proud to be part of.”

Ancer’s move is both a competitive and cultural statement for Torque GC, LIV Golf’s all Latin American team. One of the most accomplished golfers ever produced by Mexico, he arrives as a hometown figure whose career has been shaped by discipline, resilience and sustained success on the world’s biggest stages. His signing further cements Torque GC’s position as a defining force for the region within the league.

“Abraham is a proven winner and a fierce competitor, and we are proud to welcome him to Torque GC,” said team captain Joaquín Niemann. “As a fully Latin American team, we play with shared pride, responsibility and purpose. Abraham embodies those values, and his addition strengthens both our performance and our identity.”

During the 2025 season, Ancer remained a cornerstone for Fireballs GC, ranking among the league’s most reliable fairway hitters. He recorded three top ten finishes and eight results inside the points, while contributing to six team podiums, including three consecutive victories early in the campaign.

“Abraham has been a cornerstone of Fireballs GC from day one,” said Fireballs GC captain Sergio Garcia. “He helped define our culture and set standards for how we prepare and compete. His impact goes far beyond the scorecard, and that influence will stay with the team long after his departure.”

A key contributor to LIV Golf since joining the league in 2022, Ancer finished his debut season inside the top 20 of the individual standings. He opened 2023 with a wire to wire victory at the PIF Saudi International, added a podium finish at LIV Golf Bedminster, and played a central role in two team victories with Fireballs GC. Later that year, he claimed gold for Mexico at the Pan American Games, edging future Torque teammate Sebastián Muñoz by one stroke.

Since turning professional in 2013, Ancer has compiled an impressive international résumé. His career highlights include victories at the Australian Open and the WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational, a standout performance for the International Team at the Presidents Cup, a runner up finish at the Wells Fargo Championship, and multiple top ten finishes in major championships. He also represented Mexico at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games.

Ancer enjoyed another strong season in 2024, securing victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong, adding three further top ten finishes, and placing 12th in the season long standings. He also helped Fireballs GC to a team win at LIV Golf Andalucia, underlining his value as both an individual contender and team player.

LIV Golf’s 2026 calendar will also feature a significant expansion of the league’s global footprint, with South Africa set to host its first LIV Golf event in March. The tournament will mark a landmark moment for professional golf in the country, bringing the league to one of the sport’s most historic and passionate markets. The South African stop is expected to attract strong regional interest and further demonstrate LIV Golf’s commitment to staging elite events across a diverse international landscape.

Ancer is scheduled to make his debut for Torque GC at LIV Golf Riyadh presented by ROSHN Group from February 4 to 7, 2026. The team will enter the season with four players who finished inside the top 12 in 2025, including Niemann, Muñoz and Carlos Ortiz. With Ancer’s arrival, Torque GC adds experience, pedigree and a deep cultural connection as it sets its ambitions for the 2026 campaign.
