The African National Congress (ANC) is mourning the passing of veteran politician Dikeledi Magadzi, who passed away this morning, 28 December 2025.
Magadzi was 75-years-old.
“The African National Congress is deeply saddened and mourns the passing of Comrade Dikeledi Magadzi, who passed away this morning, December 28, 2025,” ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu said.
Bhengu described Magadzi as a committed leader and seasoned cadre of the ANC who served both the movement and the democratic state with dedication and discipline.
“She previously served as a member of the National Executive Committee and as a deputy minister, bringing a strong sense of public service and revolutionary commitment to every responsibility entrusted to her. Her contribution to governance and the movement was extensive,” added Bhengu.
Magadzi served in the Limpopo Provincial Government as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for portfolios including Public Works, Agriculture, Health, and Safety and Security.
At the national level, she served in the National Assembly, chaired the Portfolio Committee on Transport from 2014 to 2019, and served as Deputy Minister of Transport (2019–2021) and Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation (2021–2023).
She was active in mass democratic formations, including the Federation of Transvaal Women, United Democratic Front (UDF), NEHAWU, and the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL), and served on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for many years.
Tributes poured in from colleagues and structures within the ANC, with condolences extended to her family, friends, and comrades. Details of memorial and funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
