Swallows FC extended their unbeaten start to the DStv Premiership season to 14 matches with a 1-1 draw away to SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The Birds, as was the case last week against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, fought back from a goal down to salvage a draw, as Joseph Mhlongo’s equaliser cancelled out Lucky Mohomi’s early opener.
The result sees Matsatsantsa and Swallows remain in second and third place respectively, two points off the pace set by Sundowns.
SuperSport will return to DStv Premiership action when they travel to Bloemfontein Celtic on 9 February, while Swallows’ next league game is at home to AmaZulu on 14 February.
Meanwhile Golden Arrows completed a second-half comeback to beat KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United 2-1 in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership match at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont.
Thabiso Kutumela had given the visitors a narrow lead at the break, but goals from Lindokuhle Mtshali and Knox Mutizwa led Abafana Bes’thende to victory and up to 22 points, level with Cape Town City in fifth and eight ponts behind the league leaders. Defeat leaves Maritzburg in 14th and stuck on nine points with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Black Leopards.
Elsewhere TS Galaxy continued their fine recent form in the DStv Premiership by defeating hosts Black Leopards 3-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium in Limpopo on Saturday evening.
The result means the Rockets have taken seven points from the last nine available and move to 10th on the log, six points clear of the relegation zone. Lidoda Duvha, meanwhile, drop to the bottom of the log on goal difference.
And Bloemfontein Celtic ended their six-game winless streak in the DStv Premiership by defeating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 1-0 at Dr Molemela Stadium.
