Premier Soccer League (PSL) defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have bolstered their squad with the signing of Monnapule Saleng from Orlando Pirates.
Sundowns announced that the 27-year-old winger will join the star-studded squad for the remainder of the 2025/26 season via their official social media platforms.
“Ready to light up! Masandawana, meet our latest arrival, Monnapule Saleng. Pace, power, and pure ambition as he joins the Home of the Champions, “the Brazilians posted on Friday evening.
Saleng’s departure from Pirates comes after a turbulent spell at the Soweto giants. Despite being one of the club’s standout performers in previous seasons, the winger fell out of favour with the technical team due to tactical disagreements and concerns over his consistency.
He quickly made an impact at top-flight newcomers Orbit College. In 11 league appearances, he scored two goals and provided three assists, showcasing his attacking prowess and creativity.
During his time with Pirates, Saleng has won three MTN8 crowns, and two Nedbank Cups before his exit to the Orbit College.
Saleng is expected to help Sundowns to push for the Premier Soccer League after the initial struggles that have seen them trail leaders Pirates by two points despite playing 13 games, as opposed to Bucs who have played 12 but managed to collect 28 points.
