Chelsea fined £150,000 over bottle-throwing incident.

The Football Association (FA) announced on Friday that they have imposed a £150,000 fine on Chelsea for breaching FA Rule E20 in their match against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League last month.

An independent regulator imposed the fine ‌after Chelsea admitted to the charge, the FA said in a statement.

The written reasons, provided by the commission said the FA were given footage of the bottle being thrown and that the “act was dangerous”, which could have “provoked a reaction” from Villa’s staff.

However, it was noted that following investigations “neither the FA nor Chelsea Football Club has been unable to identify the specific person responsible for throwing the bottle”.

The decision of the commission is subject to appeal in accordance with the FA’s rules and regulations.

Chelsea, who sit sixth in the Premier League, travel to struggling London neighbours Crystal Palace in league action on Sunday, while third-placed Villa visit Newcastle United on the same day.
